UPDATE – YOU CAN SEE A VIDEO OF THE EXACT MOMENT QUINTON DE KOCK CHIRPED WARNER’S WIFE HERE.
We could use one of any number of videos to illustrate this point, but let’s stick to what has happened during the first test between SA and Australia at Kingsmead for now.
Australia have wrapped up the win and gone 1-0 up, thanks in large part to Mitchell Starc’s ability to run through our lower order.
They’re deserved winners of what has been a decent test match, but it’s the Australian team’s behaviour that deserves a little dissection.
First up there was David Warner’s reaction to running out AB de Villiers, where he screamed in the face of Proteas opener Markram like a real doos.
That’s evident from the picture above, and you can add on Nathan Lyon dropping the ball on (or close to) AB, lying prone on the floor.
Why do this?
Watch how Lyon throw the ball at AB after ean him out. Ugly side of the australians, act like they never die, disgusting #SAvAUS pic.twitter.com/z3umdroS2S

Lyon has since been sanctioned for his conduct and will be fined a percentage of his match fee – more here.
Anyway that’s all in the minor leagues, because it is Warner’s confrontation with Quinton de Kock that is grabbing all the headlines. As the players trudged off for tea, with Quinny and Markram leading a spirited fightback, Warner seemed to lose his mind.
If ever you needed more evidence that David Warner is a wanker, then here you go:
Another video highlights ‘keeper Tim Paine’s attempt to calm his teammate down:
Even his own teammates seem to think it’s over the top, and it should be pointed out that Warner has the added responsibility of being the vice-captain.
He will say he has come a long way since punching English cricketer Joe Root in the face during a drunken night out back in 2013, but behaviour like this suggests otherwise.
Reports suggest that Quinny might have alluded to the fact that Warner’s wife was caught in a rather uncompromising position back in 2007.
Here’s PerthNow with their story at the time:
Candice Falzon [now Warner], a glamorous national ironwoman, was captured on a mobile phone image with rugby league superstar Sonny Bill Williams in a men’s toilet cubicle.
…the two sports stars quickly bonded and as the evening progressed their passion moved towards the men’s bathroom.
A patron said it was obvious what was going on in the toilet.
“There were people in the toilets hearing them in action – they were certainly not discreet,” the source said. “There were a lot of people around who saw them and remarked how brazen they were.”
It is alleged that Quinny chirped up and asked Warner what SBW tastes like, which, if true, goes against the spirit of cricket.
Not that Warner is innocent:
If this was any player other than Warner, I would call de Kock out for being in the wrong. Given that it’s Warner, you just know he went there first.
Another Sport24 article lists Candice’s previous relationships:
Prior to her marriage to Warner in April 2015, she had high profile relationships with NRL star Braith Anasta, rugby union player Matt Henjak, Aussie Rules star Brent Staker, footballers Anderson and David Carney and tennis player Marcos Baghdatis. She was also in a brief relationship with British comedian David Walliams.
The incident is now being investigated:
“CA (Cricket Australia) is aware of reports of an incident between players in Durban,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said in a statement.
“CA is working to establish the facts of what has occurred and will not be commenting further until that has been done.”
Graeme Smith says that Warner is a big fan of running his mouth:
The Australians’ behaviour was slammed by former South African captain Graeme Smith, who told Australia’s CricketAU website in Durban that Lyon as an experienced cricketer would “probably say (his action) was unnecessary himself”.
“We’ve got used to Davey (Warner) over the years. I think the less interest you take in him the better,” Smith added.
“He can be a bit of a fool at times. It’s best just to let him be.”
The Proteas camp commented that the incident was “unfortunate”, and have said they are awaiting “further communication from the ICC around this incident”.
Given that we have seen the likes of KG Rabada fined for his send-offs of batsmen, you can only hope that the ICC grows a pair and comes down hard on Warner.
The Ozzies love to talk about sledging being a part of their “mental disintegration” strategy, but they’ve crossed over into wanker territory now.
Well played and congrats on winning the first test, but try and show a little decorum while you’re at it.
Oh, and if KG and Morne want to dish out some sweet chin music to Warner and his buddies, I’m all for it.
