I know you learnt the first eight chords to ‘Wonderwall’, and that makes you a bona fide rock star, but you’ll never be as cool as Yang Tae Hwan.
He would be the 13-year-old who tore it up at the Winter Olympics closing ceremony, stealing the show in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Nothing like a musical prodigy to make you re-evaluate what you’re doing with your life but let’s move along.
More about Yang and his performance from Elite Daily:
On Sunday, Feb. 25, the 13-year-old stole the show, donned in typical rock star attire: blue jeans, a turtleneck, and a classic leather jacket. For the show, he performed his own rendition of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter,” a concerto from his 1725 symphony The Four Seasons, and Yang absolutely killed it. For a kid who was already playing better than adult rock stars at just the age of 10…he showed us that he’s definitely a prodigy that deserves so much celebration. Twitter users agreed and aired out heartwarming praise for his performance at the ceremony.
Unfortunately NBC, the host broadcaster, still hates us here in SA. If you’re across the pond in the US you can see the full video here, but the footage isn’t available in this neck of the woods.
The best we can do is this little clip:

If you’ve ever played ‘Guitar Hero’, I’m sure you can relate to this:
Nailed it.
Here is Yang rocking Dire Straits – Sultans of Swing:
And him leading an entire orchestra:
Back at age nine, he was already tearing it up:
Right, enough musical prodigy for one morning.
We shall finish with the fireworks display that wrapped up the closing ceremony:
