Feeling an “unusual hardness” on a passenger’s thigh, a security officer at OR Tambo became suspicious.
He moved the passenger to the searching area where “the two hard objects were discovered to be white and rock-like, wrapped with Sellotape,” explained police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale.
Once unwrapped, it was discovered that the passenger had a stash of heroin with a police-estimated street value of R112 000, reports News24.
Heroin is an opioid drug made from morphine, a natural substance taken from the seed pod of the various opium poppy plants. That’s one example up top, in case you were wondering.
I mean, if the security officer had assumed it was some other long, hard object down the passenger’s leg, the passenger might have just made it to Mahé Island, Seychelles, his home country.
However, he is now due in court on charges of possession of illegal drugs. Via Times LIVE, some more on how they managed to nab the 42-year-old:
It said the discovery was made during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by an integrated multidisciplinary team last Wednesday morning.
“In a joint operation‚ the Reshebile security company and members of the SAPS followed up information they had received. It is alleged that at 11.45am on February 14 2018‚ SAPS officials received a complaint from a Reshebile security officer about a passenger‚ a Seychelles national‚ who was about to board a flight.
That’s when the search occurred and the dealer’s day was wrecked.
My suggestion? There are no good ways to get heroin through OR Tambo, so don’t be a bloody moron and try.
