Sheesh, hey, what a day that was.
Late last night South Africa breathed a collective sigh of relief, Jacob Zuma finally announcing his resignation.
Having sent out a media release saying that he would speak at 10PM, he made everyone wait an extra half hour before stepping up to the podium.
The entire speech lasted around 25 minutes, during which time he outlined what a virtuous man he is with a deep respect for the country, its laws and the citizens who call it home, but here’s what everyone waited up to see:
Gotta get that last little dig in about disagreeing, just to make it clear that he is the victim here.
His tone was certainly very different to his earlier ‘interview’ with the SABC, which was really more of a monologue / whinge sesh. One moment that many viewers were quick to point out was his spit:
He did more than speak . Just spat on National TV. #ZumaSpeaks #Zuma #Zexit #ZumaExit #ZumaRecall pic.twitter.com/Ul2gxExyMv

Maybe there was a copy of the Constitution sitting next to him? If you’re wondering what seems to be caught in his throat, apparently it’s the truth.
This, from Tegan Phillips (@Unclippd), deserves to be shared:
Y’all know who the real heroes here are, right? And now they’ve been turned into a meme:
Party in that house last night.
Something tells me it’s going to be a festive weekend around the country.
