Admit it, you love them.
Hosting the Olympics means investing a large sum of money towards the necessary infrastructure, but then everyone flocks to the host city and you make it all back.
Err, not really, because time and time again hosting the Olympics has proven to be a costly affair. Then there’s the upkeep of the stadiums and facilities, which, as the years tick by, often falls by the wayside.
With the Winter Olympics opening ceremony kicking off later today in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the Telegraph decided to share some “eerie photos of abandoned Olympic venues”.
