Ever since the revelations that Donald Trump paid a porn star R1,6 million to keep her from sharing salacious details of their time together, the world has closely scrutinised any moment POTUS and FLOTUS make a public appearance.

Following the porn star incident, among others, rumours that their relationship is on the rocks has only fuelled the public’s enthusiasm to spot their weaknesses.

Although the two have a long history of awkward hand-holding, the latest incident happened on Monday when Donald and Melania were boarding Marine One, reports Mashable:

A clip, captured by NBC News, shows Melania wearing a long yellow jacket over her shoulders, with arms and hands inside the coat, not inside the sleeves. As the two round the corner, Trump can be seen attempting to grab Melania’s right hand, and failing.

Reporters fire off questions and Trump suddenly stops, catching Melania off guard.

After a few awkward moments, Trump motions to the press and the two continue to the helicopter. Trump then briefly places his arm on Melania’s shoulder before the two board the aircraft.

I love how she brings her hand out of her jacket once Trump is safely on the other side of her. Try a little harder, Trump. Or rather, give up.

I mean, will they ever get it right? Well, as long as Melania holds a grudge towards Trump, probably not.

At least that’s what Twitter thinks:

When they arrived back to the White House following the short trip to Ohio, things didn’t appear to be any better. Melania once again wore her massive canary-yellow coat, concealing herself from her husband’s reaching hand:
