Boekenhoutskloof’s The Journeyman is arguably South Africa’s rarest wine.
This is because the Franschhoek vineyard from where it gets its grapes only ripens perfectly in certain vintages, resulting in The Journeyman being produced in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and now 2015.
Although the rest of the vintages are long gone, 2015 is now available, and we know how you can get your hands on one.
Or two, rather.
Neatly packed alongside five other wine varieties from Boekenhoutskloof, you can get two bottles of The Journeyman in what has been dubbed, by us, as the ‘Treasure Chest’.
Yes, yes, the collection we told you about in October is now available and Seth got one of his very own delivered to our office:
So what’s inside? Well, wouldn’t you like to know.
Here’s the full selection, including what each bottle would cost on WineCellar:
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof Semillon 2015 – R300
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 – R460 for 2014*
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 – R460
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof Noble Late Harvest 2015 – R300 for 2014*
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2015 – R460
• 2 x Boekenhoutskloof The Journeyman 2015 – R1 500 when available
*You see those 2015 bottles with 2014 prices?
Well, those varieties haven’t even been released to the public yet, so for a casual R6 000 you can get 12 bottles of wine that would cost more than R6 900, if you could even find the wine, that is.
Worth it? I think so:
If you think this might be a great present for someone else, or the perfect investment for yourself, email Leana at info@boekenhoutskloof.co.za to buy one.
Or maybe you just want to sip on some delicious history:
If that’s a little out of your price range, but you still want to impress over the festive season, then we recommend The Chocolate Block.
Retailing for around R200, you’re guaranteed to get that nod of appreciation as you whip out the bottle.
Make sure you keep it close at hand, though.
