I wouldn’t know, but there’s a certain prestige that comes with dropping a casual ‘oh I just snapped up a house in Camps Bay’ into a conversation.
There are hundreds of lists out there about the most expensive streets in South Africa (our latest one HERE), but you’re doing OK if you’re calling the Bay home.
I don’t want to get you too excited, but you might jog past Seth on one of his 10km jaunts. You’ll just catch a fleeting glimpse, though, because rumour has it he’s crushing a sub 50 minute 10km these days.
Anyway, do give him a wave.
So what about these Camps Bay houses going for under R25 million? There are five of them on BusinessTech, so let’s dive right in:
Property 1 – The Azure – this new development offers just four luxury residences designed to the highest standards close to the beach and with sea and mountain views.
Each unit has a large open-plan dining, lounge and family room, a bespoke chef’s kitchen with integrated appliances and separate scullery, four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, a private pool, green features including low-voltage LED lighting and solar water heating, well-point water and secure basement parking with access control.
The development is scheduled for completion by mid-2019.
Price: R21.95 million plus VAT
Call me old-fashioned (I’ve been called far worse), but for almost 22 bar I want a house that’s complete.
Property 2 – A multi-storey home set on over 1000sqm with a lovely garden, sea, beach and mountain views, a formal and informal lounge, huge wrap around patios and a swimming pool, three bedrooms plus a separate apartment, staff accommodation and a three-car garage.
Price: R20.895 million
An informal lounge? Sold
Property 3 – This Bali-designed home is close to the beach and promenade and boasts sea and mountain views, high ceilings, five bedrooms, an expansive entertainment deck with a pool, terraces and balconies and multi-car garaging.
Price: R23.95 million
You’d be amazed what R24 million can get you in Bali. Around December time every boet is either there or in Thailand, so that’s a slice of home.
Neeeext – one that’s a cool R20 million on the button:
Property 4 – Is a seldom available opportunity to transform an older house into luxury home on large 1235sqm plot in Deep Glen or take advantage of the subdivision potential. The property offers sea and mountain views from the upper level, a large four-bedroomed house with a Jacuzzi, swimming pool and garden.
Price: R20 million
Let me get this straight – I’m forking out R20 million for an old house that I can then spend more on transforming it into a luxury house?
A fixer upper now costs R20 million. What a time to be alive.
I know I promised you five but I’m shook, so if you really care there’s another Camps Bay option HERE.
Must be nice, hey? If bitcoin just surges about 25 000 times in price I might be joining these folks, but until then we’ll have to make due with rubbing shoulders at Caprice.
R150 for bottomless bubbly on a Saturday – affordable.
