I don’t want to give away my age here, but I grew up in the age of Mobile Drop.

You have to tick three boxes in order to make the grade:

• you must be 18 years or older (ID verification required),
• have a smartphone
• have a valid credit / debit card.

Don’t have cash on you? No worries, because much like Uber you have your card details stored and you pay with a few pokes of a button.

Consider this: have you tried driving around Cape Town these past two days? It’s hot, there are people EVERYWHERE, and we just don’t need this kind of hassle in our lives. It’s only going to get worse as Christmas and New Years rolls around, so time to prepare for battle.

Running out of dops at the braai? Need a few more bottles of wine for your dinner party? Click, order, pay, relax.

Then there’s the fact that you might have had a few drinks already, and you’re better than hopping in the car and heading to the booze shop.

You just know those roadblocks are going to everywhere as well, and officers want those Christmas bonuses.

Open app, place order, crack another cold one with the boys.

Besides alcohol, they also offer a range of complementary products like mixers, ice, snacks, cigarettes and more (Rizla for those too incapacitated to get off the couch).

Your first delivery is FREE, and after that each delivery will cost you R50.

Here’s something else I quite like: Once you have confirmed your order, you will be able to click on “Split my bill” and select the name of your friend/s you want to split the bill with, and the amount they must pay, so you don’t have to be that person who coughs up because people arrived empty-handed.
