It’s very well publicised that Donnie D doesn’t drink, his brother Fred having died an alcoholic back in 1981 at the age of just 43.
If you want to learn more about Fred you can read an excellent article HERE, but let’s deal with the man who is slurring because his mental faculties are rapidly being whittled away.
Yesterday Trump announced that the US would now recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s official capital, something that pretty much every country in the world bar Israel has condemned.
News24 has the full rundown of dissenting voices, but we’ll drop a couple here:
Prime Minister Theresa May said the British government disagreed with Trump’s decision, saying it was “unhelpful” for peace efforts.
“We disagree with the US decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem and recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital,” she said in a statement. “We believe it is unhelpful in terms of prospects for peace in the region”.
French President Emmanuel Macron branded Trump’s stance as “regrettable” and called for efforts to “avoid violence at all costs”.
Macron affirmed “the attachment of France and Europe to the two-state solution, Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security within internationally recognised borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of the two states.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said through her spokesperson that she “does not support” Trump’s reversal of decades of US policy.
“The status of Jerusalem can only be negotiated within the framework of a two-state solution,” spokesperson Steffen Seibert wrote on Twitter.
Waiting for his angry tweets to come, but for now let’s get back to the slurring.
Towards the tail end of that announcement, his pronunciation became a little iffy:
That smug sign and present moment – gross.
Or is it that he has false teeth, and they have just come loose?
Quartz, off the back of a massive reaction on social media, decided to probe that slurring:
The White House would not provide Quartz with an on-the-record answer about what had caused the president’s pronunciation to veer off course towards the end of the speech. Spokesman Raj Shah told the Los Angeles Times it was a case of “dry mouth.”
Classic droogbek. Someone get the oke a Steri Stumpie.
Could it possibly be something else, Quartz asked Shah? There’s nothing to be ashamed of about having dentures at Trump’s age, for example, and if that were the case, it would likely reassure people who had concerns that it might be something more serious.
“Report whatever you would like to report,” Shah responded. “This isn’t news.”
Or is it FAKE NEWS? So hard to tell these days.
While the US president has traditionally had an annual physical while in office, and made the results public, there’s no law compelling Trump to do so. Trump released some details about his health ahead of last year’s election in response to pressure after his personal physician had declared he would be the “healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
Why does everything have to be so hyperbolic? Oh, because that’s how he loves it:
