It’s easy to dismiss the DJI Spark as a lesser product until you have one in your hands. And at under R8 000 a pop from weFix, you’d be a fool not to consider it.
Here’s why.
I managed to get my mitts on one the other day and took it to Cabine du Cap. I must be honest, I didn’t use many (any) of the special features, because I’m a guy and I don’t read instruction manuals.
I wish I had, because most of the moves I was pulling could have been automated with the tap of a button.
Before we marvel at my creation, I must highlight the following features.
The DJI Spark:
- Has facial recognition and can launch from your hand
- Can take aerial photographs using hand gestures, without a remote controller or mobile device
- Edit videos and share from the app
- Ultra-smooth video
- Shoot video in 1080p and capture stills in 12-megapixels
- Professional, automated techniques like circling around your target or flying upward, spiraling around your subject or flying bqackward and upward whilst locked on your subject, are all part of the package.
- ActiveTrack lets you select a subject on the screen and the DJI Spark will follow that subject.
- Flies at up to 50 km/h
- Physical object avoidance
- Flight autonomy
That’s quite a lot of bang for your buck. What’s more, you’re saving a lot of space with a gadget that can fit inside a moonbag.
If you were ever inclined to carry a moonbag.
Are people still doing moonbags?
Right, ogle this. Yes, I made it myself:
Just marvellous. What a gadget.
