Here at 2oceansvibe we pride ourselves on cutting the imaginary ribbon to declare that summer in Cape Town has officially begun.
An annual tradition that’s now in its 10th year – the first declaration coming in hot back in 2007 – we nearly didn’t get to it. You see, this year it’s quite apparent that the fine weather has arrived just a touch later than normal.
For us to make our proclamation there has to be at least one week of temps hitting above 20 and no clouds, according to the ever-reliable WeatherPro app.
Usually the announcement happens as early as September, and most commonly in October, but this year we’re already in the first week December.
Climate change is a real thing, hey? Check what’s coming this week:
A high of 37 on Thursday? We’re in for one helluva good week(end), so don your sun hats, smother yourself in sunscreen, and I’ll check you at the least windiest beach.
Aweh.
Oh, and along with summer, so has rosè season started in the Mother City.
Every Saturday, the iconic Cafe Caprice is inviting you to pop in and celebrate the arrival of warm days, lazy lunches, salmon coloured sunsets and sultry nights with a glass of rosè.
You can even stay for lunch and sip on a bottle of brut rosè or chardonnay pinot noir for R 190 or ask about their R150 bottomless bubbly option. Yum.
And if that’s just not for you, their two-for-one burger special is running until the end of December.
Do keep an eye out on their events happening through December – pop over here to see what’s up.
Happiest of summers, dear friends. Seth loves you all.
