It’s common knowledge that Durbanites are just a touch racist.
That’s a generalisation, of course, but if you’ve spent much time in the city then chances are someone has casually slipped in a racist jibe like that’s just par for the course.
Talking of pars – how about that golf course brawl from earlier this year?
We covered that story HERE. Feel free to watch the whole video, but pay special attention to the comment in the final few seconds:
And there you have it.
Before you get worked up and rationalise it by saying that the whole of South Africa is prone to such racist outbursts, take a step back and consider just how normalised it seems in that neck of the woods.
Anyway we are here to talk about restaurant brawls, rather than spending time on the golf course, so we’re going to look at two more recent incidents.
The first was all over the news two weeks ago, shots being fired during the scuffle which broke out outside a popular restaurant on Chartwell Drive in Umhlanga.
One bystander filmed the aftermath, which contains plenty of foul language:
You can read more about that fight HERE.
Then earlier today someone sent us this video, which was taken from CCTV footage at another restaurant in Umhlanga two days ago, and asked us to share it in the hopes of identifying the brawlers.
A real cheap shot coming up:
People seriously need to relax.
I know that it’s hot and sweaty up that side of the world, and I imagine it must be painful to know that you’ll never be the best seaside city in the country, but you’re not being very lekker.
You might find the odd gang shootout around Cape Town, but for the most part we’re just trying to soak up the good vibes.
