Adding to their penthouse in Sydney, 100-plus acre country house outside of Sydney, 4 000-square-foot contemporary mansion in Beverly Hills and palatial mansion of more than 12 000-square-feet in a swanky gated development in Nashville, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban recently acquired a seven-storey New York townhouse.
And it is just as beautiful as she is.
Situated on the corner of 74th St. and 5th Ave., bordering Central Park, the townhouse was allegedly bought for Kidman by Urban, costing him $52 million (around R716 million), reports W Magazine.
However, even though there are rampant “official” reports concerning the sale, the building is still listed on the Modlin Group realtors website.
Anyway, let’s continue as if the couple do, in fact, own it – and when we’re done you will see why they would be silly to let it go!
Other than having belonged to Gossip Girl‘s Nate Archibald, the house has had a long history of being associated with très famous names:
The 25-foot-wide Beaux-Arts residence was designed by architect Alexander Welch and completed in 1901 before it was purchased by prominent corporate attorney Francis Lynde Stetson, former law partner of president Grover Cleveland, and the elegantly proportioned residence, once occupied by Russian-French painter Marc Chagall and, much later, by Michael Jackson, last changed hands in 2001 when Moroccan-born American hedge fund billionaire Marc Lasry picked it up for $11 million.
It’s list of extensive amenities might give a clue as to why it fetches such an exorbitant price tag:
This iconic home boasts 16 rooms with a grand parlor [sic] floor encompassing a formal dining room, oversized living room with south west exposures and garden views, and a butler’s serving area for entertaining, 7 gracious bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, 1 staff room and 1 staff bathroom.
The original features are in excellent condition including architectural detailed oak staircase, 10 wood burning fireplaces, oak wood floors, paneling, moldings, windows of stained and leaded glass and gilt work. There is central air-conditioning, hi ceilings and abundant natural light. The exterior includes a patio on the garden level and a private roof deck with a nearby kitchen on the sixth floor.
Divine – now let’s take a look:
I could definitely see Kidman fitting right in.
