Footballers generally aren’t fond of putting the ball past their own keeper, and even less so when it’s a belting shot from close to 40 metres out.
When we showed you Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia’s own goal from July (HERE), we thought that was the worst effort of the year all wrapped up.
Many called it the greatest own goal ever, but let’s remember that it was in a pre-season friendly so no real harm done.
That’s not the case for Fankaty Dabo, currently on loan from Chelsea at Dutch side Vitesse, when he came up against FC Groningen in a Eredivisie league match over the weekend.
His team was actually winning 1-0 just shy of the hour mark when this happened:
Oh. Oh dear.
It gets worse, as MenStuff reports:
That clanger of an own goal signalled a bit of a collapse for them as they let in three more goals afterwards, capping a pretty disastrous evening. It’s probably safe to say that Chelsea may not be recalling the young defender any time soon.
Nah, don’t think so.
