Nothing says relentless like the winds that have pounded through Cape Town over the past few days.

But, although our beloved south easter has returned to signal summer is on its way, today’s winds are taking things to another level.

Checking out today’s weather forecast on WeatherPro, we can see that gust levels are hitting 81 kph (the number on the right of the wind indicator):

Comparing those speeds to The Hurricane Watch Net’s Beaufort Wind Scale, here’s where they sit:

Yup, just 30kph faster and we’d be in some deep trouble.

Just to be safe, you might want to tie down anything that could find itself on the other side of the peninsula.
