Damn, but Amazon needs to sort itself out when it comes to listing offensive Halloween costumes.
The latest is none other than a “Blade Gunner” costume, recognised closer to home as a Halloween costume depicting that dude, Oscar Pistorius.
The global retailer has come under fire for selling the offensive costume, just like HalloweenCostumes.com did when it listed that Anne Frank – or World War II evacuee girl – option we reported about here last week.
The image of the costume shows a man wearing a green athlete’s kit, no doubt representing South Africa, with a shirt that says “Blade Gunner”. It comes complete with a toy gun and a, wait for it, socks and knee pads meant to represent prosthetic legs.
Yup:
I mean, you can feel what you want about the guy but that is really tasteless.
Priced at £26,10 (R467), here’s the description via News24:
“This Paralympic runner costume is sure to cause some controversy at your next event. Includes top, shorts, boot covers and knee pads.”
So they knew it would cause controversy? What is going on in the world?
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the costume was no longer available:
“Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don’t will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. The product in question is no longer available.”
I wonder how many were sold, and how much controversy will be caused at the “next event”.
