Who am I? Why am I here? What is the meaning of life?
And also, how can these not be photographs?
Well, we’re dealing with something called photorealism, “the process of replicating a photograph through a different medium”, and the world’s best exponents were on display in an exhibition at the Parrish Art Museum in New York.
The show featured 40 paintings, including “Pointe Hilton” (1999) by Jack Mendenhall which you can see above, but we’ll pick our favourites via CNN:
“Untitled; Territory” (2012) by Yigal Ozeri)
“Caramelle di Cristallo” (2010) by Roberto Bernardi
“Flamingo” (2012) by Raphaella Spence
“Untitled; Olya” (2016) by Yigal Ozeri
“Banana Lady” (2012) by Anthony Brunelli
Yes, those are all paintings, and I’m out here drawing dicks on my co-worker’s diary whenever she pops out of the office.
You can see more of the artwork that was displayed HERE.
