Sports injuries can be divided into two major categories.
The first is a football injury, which consists of a player rolling around screaming in agony, followed shortly thereafter by the same player miraculously hopping back to his feet to verbally abuse the referee.
Then there are actual sports injuries, like the one suffered by Boston Celtic’s Gordon Hayward just five minutes into his debut appearance.
Signed on a whopping four year, $128 million (R1,7 billion) contract, Hayward fell awkwardly after a collision with LeBron James and snapped his ankle.
You know an injury is a bad when your teammates hop off the bench and start running away:
Yoh, not lekker.
According to ESPN, fellow Celtics player Kyrie Irving has only ever seen one injury that can compare:
“It’s tough. I’ve seen a few injuries in my career and I’ve had a few,” Irving said. “Probably two of the worst ones I’ve been in the game watching — one was [George] at USA and this one tonight. It’s not a great sight to see, but you gotta pick yourself up. Just keep on fighting, man. We understand that [Hayward], God willing, will be fine, and we’re going to continue to pray for him and be there for him as best we can.”
The old #thoughtsandprayers, hey.
Doesn’t heal bones and doesn’t stop terrorists, either.
