Jerome “Donkie” Booysen [above] is the suspected leader of one of the Cape’s most notorious gangs, the Sexy Boys.
And, at about 5:15AM this morning, he was allegedly shot at at the Cape Town International Airport’s drop and go facility.
What a way to start a Wednesday morning.
According to News24, SAPS spokesperson Vish Naidoo confirmed that two people were wounded in the incident – one in the upper body – and both were taken to hospital.
However, Naidoo refused to reveal their identities, only saying:
A man in his 50’s was shot at the drop off zone. Suspects travelling in an unknown vehicle opened fire on him before fleeing the scene.
A passer-by approximately 30 years of age was also struck by a stray bullet. That man also received treatment at the scene and was removed to hospital.
It is alleged a BMW X5 and a white vehicle were involved in the incident.
Naidoo also said that the drop and go facility will be cordoned off while investigations take place at the scene [above], with the Airports Company confirming that it has made alternative arrangements for travellers:
If it is indeed Booysen who was shot at, this makes it the third time he has been the target of a shooting this year alone:
Booysen was the target of a shooting in September in Bellville South. He was not wounded.
On May 8, he was wounded in a shooting in Elsies River. Sources said Booysen had been on his way to visit another man, who was also shot, in the Cravenby area.
Someone definitely wants him dead – or are they just warnings? I am not too sure.
