It’s considered the world’s most popular scooter, the Italian invention taking the industry by storm ever since it was released back in 1946.
Due to its miniature nature, the Vespa scooter was given the nickname paperino or ‘duckling’ and, although it has come a long way from when it began, its iconic design is still as recognisable as ever.
So iconic is its design, in fact, that one designer wanted to know what it would look like if Vespa built motorcycles.
From going off road to looking at the future, Design Boom shows us what the Vespa could be transformed into:
First up, the Vespa super bike.
Born to win, speed is the name of the game here and this gas-guzzling Vespa thumps out up to 1200 cc, compared to the 50 cc you’d usually get from an everyday Vespa.
Then we have the touring bike and if it’s long distances you need to cover, this Vespa has everything you need:
Its huge fuel tanks will keep you going for miles, the upright seats will keep you comfy for hours at a time and the screens will protect you from any adverse weather. There is even space for a passenger and luggage, making it the perfect bike for a road trip.
If going off-road is more your thing…
This rugged Vespa dirt bike could be the one for you. It can handle any surface you care to test it on: sand, gravel, mud, snow or even a river. The suspension and lightweight bodywork will have you bouncing around comfortably and the knobby tires will keep you safely gripped to the floor.
How about a chopper? Influenced by the classic Harley, with its high handle-bars and unmistakable exhaust sound, this Vespa would be the pride of any self-respecting modification.
Lean back, it’s time to cruise.
Before we go, let’s take a look at what lies ahead.
This futuristic racer is powered by pure liquid energy:
just push the front and rear ends apart to go faster. Steering is done by tilting the cycle and there is a a pair of small fins to help you balance or brake. It’s made for racing, but whoever designed this clearly also has an eye for science fiction style
Of course, if you would prefer the real thing you can head to the Vespa store close to the Cape Quarter – 22 Somerset Road – and browse their collection of Vespas.
Once you have found your perfect fit, email editor@2oceansvibemedia.com about your potential purchase and we will hook you up with a discount.
For realsies.
Then you can join in on their weekly Vespa rides and be a part of the club.
