George Clooney’s a poet? I sure as hell didn’t know it.
Putting his activist foot forward, Clooney, who isn’t one to shy away from voicing his opinion, penned a poem for The Daily Beast reflecting on the rising tensions in the United States.
His inspiration is the current #TakeTheKnee protest movement against police brutality, a “move that has come to be something of direct resistance to Donald Trump after the President weighed in on the issue,” explains The Independent.
It began last year when American football quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem before a game. Now, as the protest action rises, others have begun standing with arms locked in silent protest as well.
Clooney’s stanza has come in the wake of President Trump’s pathetic calling for the punishment of players who refuse to stand for the singing of the national anthem before sporting events.
You know, the same thing that has really pissed Trevor Noah off (HERE).
Here’s what he wrote:
Cute.
