A few weeks ago we showed you some harrowing drone footage coming out of Raqqa, CNN photojournalist Gabriel Chaim embedded amongst the rubble (HERE).
You have to be pretty brave to spend your days in Raqqa, given that there’s a serious battle for power going on, but VICE decided to get stuck in.

Three months into the offensive to retake the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa, the tide is beginning to turn. Syrian Democratic Forces took the Old City, including the city’s historic Great Mosque, meaning they now control 60 percent of the city.
Slowed down by snipers, booby traps, and car bombs, the mixed Arab-Kurdish fighters of the SDF find themselves fighting an enemy that has returned to its insurgent roots, forcing them to struggle for every house and street in the city.
VICE News travels to Raqqa to witness the battle firsthand.
