It’s too great.
Across the Croatian capital of Zagreb, billboards featuring the one and only FLOTUS were put up, along with a slogan that went a little something like this:
“Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English”
For real.
The billboards were a part of a marketing campaign by a private language school in Zagreb, who used Melania Trump’s image in an effort to “persuade Croats to learn English by reminding them of the Slovenian-born US first lady’s personal experience,” reports The Guardian.
However, the billboards have now been removed after the school received threats of legal action from Trump’s Slovenian lawyer, who demanded that the billboards be taken down immediately:
“I’m satisfied with the fact that the school admitted that they violated the law and that they are ready to remove the billboards and (Facebook) ads,” Nataša Pirc-Musar told the Associated Press. “We are still analysing possible further legal steps.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has had to protect her image. She hired the law firm after her “image” appeared on various other products in her native Slovenia, from cakes to underwear and even tourism advertisements.
Here’s the billboard:
Pirc-Musar said the school has “apologised for the billboards, but that the statement also needed to be published by the Croatian and Slovenian state news agencies”.
Ice cold.
Ivis Buric, a spokeswoman for the American Institute, said:
“We are very sorry that the billboards were misunderstood as something intended to mock the US first lady. It was meant to be something positive, to show her as a role model.”
Buric did admit that the “short advertising campaign turned out to be “very successful” because of the wide publicity it received locally and internationally”.
Of course it did, it’s amazing!
If Mrs Trump really wants to protect her image, she should be more worried about how her husband treats her when they are in the public eye:
Yeah, he just told her to take a seat like a good, subservient wife. Wow, Donald, just wow.
