There’s nothing like a little South African nostalgia to pull at the heartstrings.
A little while ago we took a trip through the Transkei, and now we’re heading over to the Karoo for another proudly South African story.
After the Sultan of Turkey sent 12 neutered male goats and one unknowingly pregnant female to Port Elizabeth way back in the day, he didn’t realise he would be providing South Africa with the chance to enter the mohair industry.
Fast forward to 2017, and the Karoo region provides the world with over 50% of its mohair.
Read all about that here.
To honour this, Mohair South Africa, an organisation established specifically to perform functions aimed at the advancement of the entire mohair industry, has produced a nostalgia-filled advert to highlight the success of the mohair industry in the country:
Do you need a tissue? You’re not alone.
Oh, and if you’re wondering who the song is by, it was created just for this video by Port Elizabeth local Charlie Finch.
