What the actual hell, Jozi?
During the early hours of Sunday morning a concert taking place inside Hillbrow Theatre turned deadly, with a man jumping on stage and opening fire.
One person was killed and seven seriously injured as a result, with this from the Mail & Guardian:
“The suspect jumped onto the stage while a band was performing. He then grabbed a microphone and claimed that he would stop the band unless he got back his stolen cellphone,” said police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini in a statement.
“When the audience tried to intervene, he fired shots randomly and eight people were shot.”
…The gunman then apparently fled on foot.
We’ve all been frustrated at losing a phone, but what kind of human fires off shots into a crowd as a result?
According to EWN, a manhunt is now underway:
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says an investigation is underway.
“Police are investigating a case of murder after a man shot eight people. One person was killed. We have launched a manhunt for him.”
The Hillbrow Theatre says it’s shocked after a brazen gun attack at the facility.
The theatre’s director Gerard Bester says the attack left many people traumatised.
“Our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased, also our heartfelt sympathies to those who were injured. We are in shock and will continue to find ways to deal with this incident this week.”
Let’s hope this thug is brought to justice.
For a phone? What a wanker.
