Punch-ups during a rugby match are a dime a dozen, especially when Eben Etzebeth is around, but when last did you see haymakers being thrown on the golf course?

This one took place at Durban’s Athlone Golf Club, showing two groups of men becoming involved in a decent brawl after an alleged verbal altercation.

According to IOL, who spoke to a woman playing golf at the time, here’s how things became so aggro:

She said when they had finished their round, the group [eight ladies] made their way to the upper deck to total their scores and wait for their members.

“The caddy came up to me and told me about the incident between the group of men and our ladies [it is alleged that the group had been assaulted and verbally harassed by a group of men]. Moments later, we heard a verbal altercation below where we were. I then videoed the incident. The club’s vice-captain had requested the names of the men who had harassed our team. The ladies who were harassed by these men were not aware of this fight as they were still playing. I contacted a security company that sent two cars to escort us off the premises,” the female golfer said.

It is also alleged that the men told the women to “go back and cook in the kitchen”.

Whatever led to this scene, it’s not something you see on a golf course all too often.

There’s also a chap at around the 2:50 mark saying that if a woman acts like a man, she must get a hiding like a man.

Nah mate, that’s actually not how it works and you look like a total and utter prick.

Just when you think those filming have taken the moral high ground, in the last five seconds out comes a racial slur.

Lou Zietsman of the Athlone Golf Club said they will not be taking action against the group of men, but will be taking statements from the club members involved in the altercation.

All this makes John Daly look relatively tame…
