People will pick a fight over just about anything these days, and the same is certainly true for sushi.
Capetonians love to bicker over where to get the best sushi in town, but if you’re after perfection you need to head to Sushi Nakazawa in New York’s West Village.
There you will find chef Daisuke Nakazawa, one of the world’s best itamaes (Japanese chefs), and his Instagram-worthy creations.
From High Snobiety:
Posted by food channel Tasty, the footage sees Nakazawa prepare several cuts of delicious sushi. The chef was trained by the sushi GOAT Jiro Ono (check out his movie on Netflix if you haven’t done so already), and so it’s no surprise that he should go about his business with the finesse of a string quartet.
“I want my sushi to create a moment for customers,” says Nakazawa. “I want them to say ‘wow!’ as they put it in their mouth.”
This is food porn:
Mad skills.
Back to that earlier mention of Jiro Ono and the Netflix doccie Jiro Dreams of Sushi – should be compulsory viewing for every ‘foodie’ (because apparently if you eat food and enjoy it that’s your title now).
The trailer:
Make some time for Jiro in your life.
