If you thought the hype game for the Mayweather / McGregor super-fight was already at fever pitch then think again, because we’re only now getting started.

Yesterday saw the pair’s first stop of a four-city promotional tour, LA’s Staples Centre the setting for all the mouthing off and abuse hurling.

Everyone knows how these things usually play out, but a quick overview from TIME:

Both fighters promised a knockout, and they had a prolonged shouting match during their second faceoff, with UFC President Dana White stepping between them.

“I am fighting, and he is boxing,” McGregor said. “It’s two men at the top of their game competing. It’s two worlds colliding. That enough is reason why this is what it is.”

…McGregor and Mayweather traded clever insults and profane boasts that quickly showed why this boxing match should be a rare spectacle — before the opening bell, anyway.

We should also check in with the moment Floyd Mayweather Senior decided to weigh in with his 10 cents.

Seems like he has taken a few more blows to the head than his son…

And if you were running lows on reasons to hate Floyd, other than his long and storied history of domestic abuse against women, how about him flashing that $100 million cheque:

I suppose the fighters need to earn their $100 million payday, but I think we all wish they would just hop in the ring and get it on.
