2017 hey, what a ride.
It’s been a while since we touched base with regards our readership stats here at 2OV, and while we’re here we may as well show you some of the stories from the past month or so that have really captured your attention.
Monitoring between June 6 and July 6, the screenshot below is taken via Google Analytics:
Never a bad month when you crack more than half a million unique users.
As you can imagine our stories about the #CapeStorm went through the roof, and it was our pre-warning “Stay Inside Your Homes” post that clocked the most reads.
Probably because you were all forwarding it onto your bosses looking for a day off – classic Cape Town.
Everyone was also very keen on finding out how the storms had topped up our dams and they could run a bath again – unfortunately we know how that turned out.
Our story on Marta Ortega, the daughter of the second richest man in the world, also took off – perhaps because she’s being called “the most influential name in fashion you’ve never heard of“.
Given how much everyone hates going in to renew their car license discs, it’s no surprise that our story about FNB’s Nav Car feature on the app was shared far and wide.
We often have older stories reappearing on our ‘most read’ lists, but one that always seems to make a dent is Seth’s take on “Clever Ways To Earn Money From Your Laptop In South Africa“. Written back in 2013 it’s still racking up the clicks, although if you really want his secrets you should just buy his book (HERE).
Everyone is out for a bargain, and that includes grocery hunting – pretty clear why our ‘Woolies / Spar / Checkers / Pick n Pay comparison‘ was widely read.
If you live in Cape Town you’re probably on the craft beer train already, a train on which you’ll recognise some of the passengers – “Seven Types Of People In Cape Town Who Give Craft Beer A Bad Name“. Done in conjunction with Devil’s Peak Brewery, our partners, it was a fun look at all the usual characters you’ll find sipping on the golden nectar.
We’ll finish with one of those really odd crime stories, this one out of Krugersdorp, that had it all – including a weird occult killing vibe.
That main picture alone is enough to send shivers down the spine.
Thanks for reading, friends, you keep being lekker now.
