It’s not lekker when you’re 35 000 feet in the sky and something starts to go a little funky.
On Sunday, an AirAsia X flight to Malaysia from Perth was forced to turn back two hours after takeoff when the twin-aisle Airbus A330-300 began shaking, reports CNN.
The airline attributed the cause to a “technical issue”.
Here’s a video of the plane shaking like a washing machine:
No thank you.
A spokesperson for Perth Airport said:
The pilot identified a technical issue with the engine. The plane turned around and safely landed back at Perth Airport.
Passenger Damien Stevens told CNN he was woken by a loud bang around the 1-hour-15-minute mark:
It shook for the whole ride back, close on two hours.
Although it is not yet clear just what it was that caused the issue with the jet’s Rolls-Royce engines, CNN explains that “any imbalance inside a rapidly-spinning jet engine can cause violent vibrations that are felt throughout the aircraft”.
But get this: Stevens said the pilot twice got on the intercom to ask all passengers to pray.
Damn, son.
Passengers were then told to hold the brace position for about two minutes during the landing, which was super smooth.
Imagine thinking for two hours you could die any minute. Makes you wish you never had to get on a plane again.
