It’s been a while since a drug bust worthy of our attention has occurred – and this definitely takes the cake.
On a farm in Villiersdorp, a stash of cocaine worth around R500 million was discovered packed among 480 pallets of wine. Apparently, the haul was destined for the overseas market, reports News24.
Three suspects have been arrested.
Spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said on Wednesday evening that:
In what is believed to be one of the biggest drug hauls in the country, police in Villiersdorp in the Overberg seized 253 boxes of cocaine.
The three arrested suspects – aged 23, 27 and 42 – were expected to appear in court soon.
This is what the biggest drug bust in the country looks like:
Yeah, I also wish there were better pictures, but alas that’s all we have.
According to News24’s sources, the farm in question belongs to controversial businessman Mark Lifman – although get what Lifman told News24 in response to their query:
If it floats, flies, farms or, I’m sure you can work out what the fourth one is, rent it. And I don’t own or rent any farms, so I’m happy to say, that has nothing to do with me.
And I’ve told you before, when it comes to drugs, nothing to do with me.
I am sure the arrested suspects would be able to give officers information about who the drugs belonged to.
Eish. Not a happy chappy, ne?
Whether or not it’s Lifman, someone is very unimpressed right now.
