In an effort to stay relevant, Mattel has been on a mission to transform their toys for a while now.
At the beginning of last year it was Barbie who got a makeover, and this year it’s Ken’s turn.
Originally entering the scene back in the early 60s, Ken was introduced as Barbie’s boyfriend after the two “met” on the set of a television commercial, according to the Barbie mythos.
Since then, Ken has had over 40 occupations and a multitude of complete wardrobes containing the most stylish clothes.
But cornrows? Never.
And what about brown skin? Say whaaat?
Yeah, bro, Mattel has finally grown up and is now offering every little girl the chance to get their Barbie a non-white boyfriend.
Introducing, “the new crew”:

With three different body types – slim, broad (dad bod) and original – plus seven skin tones, eight hair colours and nine hairstyles, the new Ken(s) has arrived:
Where are the tatts, though?
