A normal Sunday morning spent at Muizies can often prove to be ridiculously busy, with children and adults alike running in and out of whatever surf is on offer.
But this Sunday, things are going to be a little different.
Between 9AM and 11PM, about 60 young surfers from various community-based outreach programmes will participate in the Tiger’s Milk Winter Classic surfing contest.
A part of the Surfing South Africa outreach initiative, the main objective is to give surfers from disadvantaged communities the opportunity to participate in a surfing contest and, above all, enjoy the day.
The Tiger’s Milk Winter Classic will be run from inside Tiger’s Milk in Muizenberg, overlooking the contest arena. From this vantage point officials and spectators will be warm, dry and have the best view of the action in the water.
Ka-pow.

And with that, the Cape’s surf competition season has officially begun.
