It was the meteorologists around us that warned of the incoming #CapeStorm.
#DikWednesday, they dubbed it, further describing it with other words like “moerse” and “helluva”.
You know when that language is used it’s going to be a big one.
Well, they were right – just take a look at the damage from last night and this morning.
So what’s to come? We found a few of our own favourite weather-related sites, so that no matter who you are, you can kinda predict the weather, too.
Ready? Let’s go:
If you really feel like you’re missing out, start with Cape Town Webcam, a “live image (refreshing every 10 minutes) of Table Mountain in Cape Town (South Africa) with the peak of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill visible to the right and Devil’s Peak on the left”:
There’s also one here, definitely here and here.
An animated map of global weather conditions, EarthWindMap is a very pretty depiction of wind conditions across the world:
And here’s another, called Windy:
But this is the best: With a focus on weather prediction and meteorological data visualisation, Ventusky is a web application that allows you to monitor any weather development for any place on earth.
And right now, we’re monitoring Cape Town (have fun with those toggles on the left):
Have a personal weather station? No? Well, Stephen Cruickshank in Noordhoek does, and you can watch its readings live here (where you can find a whole lot of other weather stations, too):
Weather forecasters abound.
