As a lifelong Newcastle United fan I suspect what you’re about to witness is partly thanks to Rafa Benitez and the boys sealing promotion back the Premier League by winning the Championship, but truth be told the Geordies never need an excuse to get rat-arsed.

This time around it was the weekend of the “infamous” Bigg Market, as the Metro calls it, and their selection of drunken pictures is quite a sight to behold.

There was a high police presence in the city, which is fair given the recent events in Manchester, but that didn’t stop revellers from cutting loose.
