Ordering a steak is all about personal preference.
But even when it comes down to that personal preference, with some patrons enjoying it bleu and others preferring their chosen cut of meat cooked to a near-crisp, steakhouses still possess the ability to get it very wrong, or tantalisingly right.
For a restaurant to call itself a “steakhouse”, it needs to not only specialise in serving grilled beef found on a menu based solely or with a clear, dominant focus on steak and grills, but must possess the skill and ability to cook that piece of meat to damn fine perfection.
And Steakhunter is on a mission to find the best steakhouse in the west country, with your help of course.
To start it all off, the month of May will be the time for public voting and nominations through Steakhunter’s Facebook page.
But you don’t need to go nominating other “steakhouses” when the best steakhouse is already featured. Just read a description of what it is that HQ does best, in other words, their signature dish:
Start off with a salad of crispy cos and iceberg lettuce, tossed in a Dijon mustard vinaigrette, topped with toasted pine nuts and Parmesan shavings.
Then follows a 250g top-cut steak, prepared any way you want it, dished up with Café de Paris sauce and skinny fries.
But they need your help to make it to number one.
So here’s what you are going to do – and you could find yourself eating one of their famous steaks if you play nicely:
Don’t copy and paste that one above, either – we have added our own little touch.
You want to know what you could win, don’t you? Check it:
The prize up for grabs is a 3-course meal for four, including salads, chips, 250g sirloin steaks drizzled in the famous HQ Cafe Paris butter sauce, and two bottles of The Wolftrap Red to the value of R1 500.
That’s a lovely evening out with your #bae. Smooth.
But Steakhunter’s quest to find the best steak goes beyond just voting. Together with Wolftrap, who are quickly becoming an office favourite, they are offering weekly prizes of wine and braai hampers as well as other prizes.
You can check out all the info on their Facebook page.
