And there we were thinking Durban was all about curry and flip-flops. Check this out, as SA’s national sport of road rage goes to the next level.
As per Times Media:
According to paramedics and security companies on the scene‚ the incident came after the driver of a truck switched lanes and nearly collided with the driver of a Ford Ranger.
The clash took place under a bridge on the M13 freeway between Gillits and Hillcrest‚ heading up Fields Hill.
The video‚ which was shot by a driver on her cellphone‚ shows the driver of a truck jumping out of his vehicle holding a piece of pipe.
He then starts shoving and pushing the driver of a orange Ford Ranger.
I remember as a teen in my white Citi Golf Shuttle (Claudia was her name), driving around spraying people in the face through their car windows, with my re-adjusted windscreen sprayers.
One day a guy jumped out of his car and ran at me with a sjambok. I managed to get away – Claudia happened to be the fastest production 1300 on the road. That aside, it’s incredible to note that people actually travel with sjamboks. Not that I can talk, I travelled for many years with a miniature… sorry. I digress.
But that was not the case in this incident, as our man had something more serious in his car.
Back to the studio:
Several people rush over to try and break the men up before the Ford driver goes back to his vehicle and fetches his firearm.
In a subsequent squabble‚ which followed after the Ford driver hit the truck driver in the head‚ a single gunshot can clearly be heard.
Michelle Smith‚ medical director at Meditech Emergency Response‚ said the man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hand. “It appears it was a partial amputation. He was transported [to hospital] in a serious but stable condition‚” she said.
WHAT?!
Come on, guys.
