It’s been a while since we have heard from the man who seems to become more autocratic and dictatorial with each and every press conference.

It is a bit unusual for a media briefing to come with back-up dancers and a CD containing songs of praise for one of the main speakers, but that was the scene at Hlaudi Motsoeneng’s media briefing on Wednesday.

The surreal briefing covered a wide range of topics – from Motsoeneng’s issues with “so-called journalists” who told Parliament about what working for the SABC was like, to the controversial suspended COO’s political aspirations.

A praise CD and dancers.

Oh, you better believe he is still bringing home the bacon. This from IOL:

Although the Western Cape High Court ordered that Motsoeneng cannot hold a position at the SABC pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings and/or the Public Protector’s report being set aside, it did not dismiss him from the public broadcaster.

Motsoeneng admitted on Wednesday that he remained an employee of the SABC though he is prohibited from its premises, something [DA spokesperson Phumzile] Van Damme said was to remain an employee “without portfolio” and drawing a salary of R350,000 a month for sitting at home.

Hlaudi must have some serious dirt on those around him, and you can only assume the same rings true for his relationship with a few top politicians.

This man, and his possible political aspirations, fills me with dread.
