We’ve told you about the weird, and we have told you about the wonderful, but have you ever wondered what the most common things people like to store at self-storage units are?
We got the inside information from local storage solutions company Stor-Age, who jotted down what South Africans have in common when it comes to packing stuff they don’t necessarily need into storage.
While some might be predictable, others beg the question, “Why don’t you just get rid of it?!”
Here we go:
Furniture
From young couples who have just shacked up for the first time to older couples who are downsizing, and even those who have bought new furniture and for some reason cannot get rid of their old stuff, furniture is the most common thing stored in units.
Outdoor Lifestyle Goods
Whether it’s camping or fishing, surfing or mountain biking, there are many South Africans who are obsessed with one outdoor activity or another. But when the season is over, what do you do with the hordes of stuff you don’t want to get rid of? Store it, obviously. Interestingly, Store-Age explains that:
Many of our customers use their unit as an extension of their home and find that being able to come and grab their outdoor goods whenever they need them is the perfect way to enjoy their lifestyle without having it take over their home!
Makes sense – who actually enjoys all that clutter around the house, especially when they have units in the CBD that you can pop past on a whim.
Filing
I could never understand why my mom did filing until I asked, and she told me that you should keep all your stuff for about five years. I was young and rolled my eyes, but now I get it.
But where do you put it? Where most other South Africans do, in a Store-Age unit, of course.
We find that our storage facilities are the perfect place are just the right place to ensure your office space never gets cluttered. Not only will we keep your documents safe and sound, but you can come visit them any time between 7AM and 7PM too.
Vehicles
It’s quite touching how Stor-Age personifies the vehicles stored in their units by calling them “guests”. From weekend toys, or just a lack of parking space at home, cars of all shapes and sizes have found themselves hanging out in one of their storage units around South Africa.
Stock
If you’re in the business of buying and selling products, you might come across a situation where you don’t have enough storage space to store a large order placed in reaction to an increase in demand.
Store-Age’s multiple units have served as the ideal solution, and booking them on a month-to-month basis ensures you will never have to stress.
Where you find yourself in the same position or have a whole other set of reasons to get a storage unit if you click HERE you can get yourself 50% off for the first month with Stor-Age.
