Back in 2008 the Davies brothers started making cheese boards out of recycled wine barrels on a farm in Franschhoek, as well as stylish wine and champagne crates.
These little beauties immediately became hugely popular around Cape Town, and the brothers expanded to develop an extensive range of décor and gifting-related products.
The Vendange retail concept then took off, and they have now opened stores across South Africa.
Their distribution and storage warehouse is based in Maitland, Cape Town, and here’s the really good news – for the first time in nine years they will be having a clearance sale – for two days only.
The warehouse opens from 9AM-5PM on Saturday, April 1, and also runs on Sunday from 9AM-1PM. You’re going to want to make an appearance, because the savings are well worth the effort.
Take for example their famous Tudeau cheese boards. The barrels they recycle have been used in the process of ageing red wines that are produced in the beautiful Franschhoek valley, and some are over 100 years old. Red wine colouring and aroma are still evident, and each board is uniquely hand crafted.
They usually retail for R700, but you can now pick one up for just R400. If you buy more than three, that price drops to just R350 (VAT included, of course).
Then there’s round, handled boards going for just R250, Margot boards for R350, and a wide range of similar products available for a steal.
I say stock up on these boards and that’s birthday and Christmas and wedding gifts sorted for the coming months – booya.
Fancy some chairs, bar stools or outside tables? The same goes for those – normal retail price, the price if you buy between one and three units, and the price if you buy four or more:
The list goes on – wine crates, fruit bowls, tea trays, biltong boards – you get the drift.
Everything works on a ‘first come first serve basis’ and there will be card machines available, so swing past and get stuck in.
Details below, and don’t be shy to give them a ring and find out what the discounts are on all your favourite goodies.
Happy shopping, and goodbye wedding registry headaches.
