There’s something about being 18 years old that makes you fearless, and that something helped Swiss freeskier Andri Ragettli land a place in the record books on Monday.
Ragettli became the first person to ever land a quad cork 1800 on skis, which means he “successfully rotated five full times while flipping off-axis four times”.
That might not mean much when you read it, but take a look at the video below and you’ll appreciate the effort:
Makes your descent on the black diamond seem pretty average, right?
As you can imagine the young man was pretty damn stoked – below from GrindTV:
“I didn’t plan on doing this trick, but it was the perfect day and the biggest and best jump that I have ever jumped…I was feeling it and I am super happy that it worked out right away!”
At the age of 18 I was just happy to wake up after a big night to see that I was coordinated enough to remove my shoes.
Ragettli landed the trick during the Suzuki Nine Royals contest at the Watles resort in Italy, which is no stranger to records.
Last year saw David Wise set a world record for highest freeski air, flying 14.2 meters (46.58 feet) above the lip of the jump. Again, you have to watch it to appreciate the effort:
Enough adventure – back to staring at the screen.
