It sure has been one eventful summer, what with Trump’s administration starring in news segments across every network, each “Breaking News” headline acting as the latest episode in a highly addictive soapie.
But closer to home, while we have had our own political cabinet to keep us entertained (if not biting our nails from sheer panic), there has been some fantastic weather for frolicking outdoors (always a plus), an endless stream of intriguing foreigners (yay) and some epic free live music.
If you happened to attend one of the Concerts in the Park – we did tell you about them back in December – then you know exactly what ‘epic free live music’ I am on about.
And if you don’t, you here we go:
On Sunday, De Waal Park will host Concerts in the Park, presented by RSAWEB, for yet another shindig.
Singer Jimmy Nevis will perform alongside The Rockets (who spend more than six months of the year performing internationally) and flamenco guitarist Saudiq Khan.
If you’re unaware of who Jimmy is, shame on you – here’s his bio:
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Jimmy Nevis is a young (23 years old) alternative pop singer/songwriter and producer. Signed to Cape Town record Label, Rude World Records, with a publishing, licensing and distribution deal with David Gresham Records for his debut (Subliminal) and sophomore (The Masses) albums.
Jimmy has received extensive commercial radio success in South Africa with the airplay of a number of hit singles including Heartboxing , Balloon, 7764, All About It, and Misscato.
Nevis: “I’m trying to get South Africa back into pop music. I think it’s so neglected and undermined and I love the fact that I can be a part of someone’s memory. Pop music has that power. I feel like I’ve been wanting this for so long that I have to embrace it.”
If you haven’t been to any of the previous gigs then you have missed out on jamming to Al Bairre, Ard Matthews, The Rudimentals and many more.
But there’s still a few more to come – check the rest of the lineup:
[Pro Tip: While you’re there, look out for the RSAWEB team at the concert, enter their competition on the day and stand a chance to win some sweet prizes.]
