Global warming is becoming a serious crisis and we need to do something about it.
That’s how tech genius Elon Musk started his speech on Sunday, just before he introduced the world to solar tiles.
Speaking on the street from the set of Desperate Housewives, Elon pointed to all the houses around him, asking the audience if they noticed that the tiles of the roofs were made of individual solar tiles, rather than just normal terracotta or slate tiles.
This, from Mashable:
The solar tiles are connected to Powerwall 2.0 batteries, which store the energy throughout the day to provide electricity when there is no direct sunlight.
The key takeaway is that solar power must be made desirable, an approach Musk has already taken with regards to electric cars. “Who wouldn’t want to live in a house like that?” Musk asked.
I would definitely kit out my house with all that stuff. Like, right now.
[Anything for you, Elon.]
But I will just have to get a few traditional solar panels instead, and just hope Sustainable.co.za hook us up with Elon’s products soon.
