Imagine waking up, full of ideas for your next post, and you are greeted with the news that your beloved platform has been shut down.
Well, that’s probably what happened to the – albeit small – stars of Vine, the platform which would only allow users to upload six seconds of footage.
You see, its parent, Twitter, has announced it’s culling the short-form video sharing service. And, like one commentator pointed out:
Vine is a platform people liked. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you have to act superior and belittle vine users.
So screw you, Twitter. Honestly. This is their pathetic statement:
We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.
If you have never ever seen or heard of a Vine, here’s a compilation of some of the best:
But while Twitter might not appreciate the six-seconds format, one online company does. Over to Cnet:
In a letter from Pornhub VP Corey Price to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey that was shared with CNET, Price lays out the rationale:
“We figure since Twitter has dropped (Vine) and is having significant layoffs, that you and your stakeholders could benefit from a cash infusion from the sale of Vine. Not to mention we would be saving Vine gems like ‘Damn Daniel,’ ‘Awkward Puppets’ and many more.”
Pornhub also promises to “restore Vine to Its NSFW glory,” saying that clips “of porn in six seconds is more than enough time for most people to enjoy themselves.”
Oh, PornHub, what would we do without you.
