Yet another event has been added to the Cape Town calendar – but what makes it different?
Taking over the Castle of Good Hope during the last weekend of October, The Cape Town Flower Show aims to celebrate the Cape’s floral kingdom – after all, it is the smallest and most diverse biome in the world.
So what’s actually happening?
Other than big names such as Blomboy, Paul Odendaal, Keith Kirsten and Justine Drake, there are around eight various attractions – all in conjunction with the Castle’s 350th anniversary celebration.
Just check out the promo video:
First off, welcoming you to the space will be 20 landscapers and their Show Gardens – much like the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the UK.
This year’s theme is Water-wise and each Show Garden will display something different, from creating delicious produce in your back garden to effectively using the small perimeter of your balcony.
But the most interesting – and sweetest – is the MasterFlorist™ competition. 12 contestants from amateurs to experienced florists will battle it out each day for the first MasterFlorist™ title in the world.
The floristry section, proudly sponsored by The South African Mint, will showcase a variety of top-notch florists’ arrangements as well as chocolate and wine tasting from Boschendal and Honest Chocolate.
Then, there’s over 40 exhibitors showcasing garden-related products and services, a series of amazing High Tea Talks presented by Conde Nast’s Garden & Home, and a variety of Workshops and Demonstrations, thanks to the Weekend Argus.
And, of course, there’s The Food and Drink Garden with live bands to keep your spirits high.
Pretty exciting, right?
The Cape Town Flower Show takes place at the Castle of Good Hope from the 27th – 30th October. Tickets are available from Computicket and you can check out everything you need to know HERE – also follow their Facebook page for updates.
See you there? Should be a good one.
