The ‘World Cities Review 2016: The wealthiest cities in the world’ report has just been released, and those four cities mentioned up top feature.
Some worldwide stats before we dive into the local – as of June this year the total wealth held worldwide amounts to US$185 trillion, and there are more than 13 million dollar millionaires and just under 2 000 dollar billionaires.
Here at home the total wealth held amounts to US$580 billion, with 40 400 millionaires and seven billionaires in total.
If you break that down by city of course it’s Jozi coming in first, with us beach-chilling mountain starers in the Cape claiming second.
Rather surprisingly Durban pips Pretoria to third place, with this table below from BusinessTech:
Those last two were highlighted in the report as ’emerging wealth areas’, so perhaps numbers three and four on that list may be pipped some time soon.
