We have been throwing a lot of cheap flight options your way.
Whether it has been through Travelstart’s Woah-Vember specials, where flights are as little as R600 one-way during November, or their general special’s option – HERE – I am sure they have intrigued you enough to bookmark the page for future reference.
But what about when you get to your destination? Where will you stay?
Prices for accommodation can be quite high, and unless you have a generous family member in the area who will willingly put you up for a few days, chances are you’re going to have to fork out a pretty penny for a place to put your head down at night.
So, to help you budget even more we found an infographic on the cheapest – and most expensive – accommodation regions in the country.
The data was drawn from 15 000 listings covering 2 000 areas, according to BusinessTech. According to the information, the average holiday stay averages on 3.6 nights, but ranges from province to province:
In the Western Cape, for instance, the average stay extends to 4 nights, compared to only 1.7 nights in the Free State.
So where are the most expensive and cheapest places? Business Tech explains:
The clear hot-spots are the Atlantic Seaboard in the Western Cape and luxury game reserves in Mpumalanga. No surprises here, the Camps Bay/Clifton beaches are South Africa’s answer to the French Riviera and our game parks are well-managed and well-stocked with a variety of game.
Clifton topped the list at a per-night price of R28,513, followed by Cape Town at R22,775 and the Sabi Sands Game Reserve at R13,550 a night.
Here are the two infographics, created by to Accommodation Direct:
I am so happy I actually live in Cape Town. Damn.
Travelling on a budget, the cheapest accommodation comes in the form of campsites:
Nice to know, isn’t it – and it’s nice to know that if Cape Town happens to be your summer destination of choice, Travelstart’s specials will cover you.
