The Caribbean is under siege from Hurricane Matthew, a rather timid name for a destructive force that has caused millions to flee.
In the U.S. states of Florida, Georgia and North and South Carolina people are packing up and fleeing inland, but for those in Cuba and Haiti there is no such luck.
By some counts at least 26 people have been killed in Haiti, and some of the images are truly heartbreaking. These below, taken in Haiti and Cuba, come from the BBC:
