I don’t know whether young men and women have much game over in Hong Kong, but it appears they aren’t being given much of a chance to find out.
That’s because a large majority of young adults still live with their parents, thanks to the country’s apartment blocks being amongst the densest and most cramped in the world.
Now a 25-year-old woman called Yau Wai-ching, a radical activist, is kicking up a real stink about the problem. Her recent rant has gathered much attention, with this below from TIME:
“If we want to look for a room to bang in, we fail,” she said…using a Cantonese slang term that literally means “to strike something.” She added: “This is a matter of fact.”
There was a broader political point to be made, of course. She went on to damn the Hong Kong government’s failure to adequately address the bleak state of local housing, which she chalked up to the political establishment’s general disdain for the younger generation…
“But does the government even care?” she told the Standard. “In order to make society care, I won’t hold back even if it means criticism.”
In a Facebook post cited in local media, Yau added: “Under debt, young people are facing limited options [when it comes to] spaces to bang in … What dreams can we have for our future?”
Hmm, I think Aaron Smith could still make it work (HERE).
It’s also worth mentioning that Hong Kong is one of the more prudish countries in the world when it comes to sex, with more than half of young people sampled saying they were too embarrassed to buy condoms.
I’m guessing that means they’re not going to take a look at what the world’s most popular male sex toy is all about (HERE), but if you’re not a stuck up prude maybe check out what Desir have to offer.
Or, you know, stay cooped up at home with the folks.
